Nutrition for mothers, before and after baby
Caring, practical guidance for planning a pregnancy, eating well while expecting, and nourishing yourself while breastfeeding.
Eating for two, the healthy way
Pregnancy brings a lot of advice from family and friends, and not all of it agrees. "Eat double", "avoid this", "drink that". Our role is to give you clear, practical guidance that suits your health, your reports and your home kitchen, while you stay under the care of your gynaecologist.
How we can help
- Planning a pregnancy: building good nutrition and a healthy weight beforehand, including folic acid as advised by your doctor.
- During pregnancy: healthy weight gain, managing nausea, heartburn and constipation, and getting enough iron, calcium and protein.
- Anaemia: iron-rich desi foods (daal, chana, spinach, meat, eggs) and pairing them with vitamin C for better absorption.
- Gestational diabetes: balanced meal plans that work with the targets set by your doctor.
- Breastfeeding: eating and drinking enough to support you and your baby, and returning to a healthy weight gradually.
- Postpartum recovery: realistic, gentle plans that respect traditional foods while keeping things balanced.
Traditional foods, balanced
Panjiri, desi ghee, dates and milk are part of many family traditions after delivery. They can fit into a healthy recovery in sensible portions. We help you enjoy them without overloading on sugar and fat.
Always follow your doctor's advice during pregnancy. Contact your doctor or hospital urgently if you have bleeding, severe pain, reduced baby movements, severe headache or swelling, or any symptom that worries you.

Mother & baby questions
Do I really need to eat for two?
Not exactly. Your needs for some nutrients increase a lot, but extra calories are modest, mostly in the second and third trimesters. Quality matters more than quantity.
Can I lose weight while breastfeeding?
Gradual weight loss is usually fine once breastfeeding is established, as long as you eat enough and drink plenty of fluids. Very low-calorie diets are not recommended while breastfeeding.
